Making the Varsity Track & Field Team
I never expected to make the varsity track & field team. When I first tried out, I wasn’t sure how I would compare to the other athletes, especially since I had never done competitive track before. But I knew I was fast, so I gave it my best shot.
Tryouts were intense. Sprinting, endurance drills, technique assessments—I had to push myself harder than ever. The competition was tough, and I could feel the pressure, but I kept reminding myself why I was there. When I finally saw my name on the list, I could hardly believe it.
Being on varsity is both exciting and challenging. The workouts are tougher, the expectations are higher, and the competition is serious. But I love the intensity, and I know that every practice is making me a better athlete.
Making the team showed me that sometimes, taking a risk pays off. I stepped onto that track as a complete beginner, and now, I’m a varsity athlete. I’m ready to see how far I can go.
