Trying Out Different Activities as an Exchange Student
One of the most exciting things about studying in a new country is getting to experience activities I never had the chance to try before. Back home, my focus was mostly on academics and working out, but here, I’ve been encouraged to step outside of my comfort zone and get involved in school life.
I’ve tried everything from volunteering at school events to joining clubs I never considered before. Some activities were easier to get into, while others pushed me to develop new skills. What surprised me the most was how welcoming and supportive everyone was. Even though I was new, people were always willing to help me understand things and feel included.
Participating in different activities has helped me make friends and learn more about American school culture. I realized that being part of a community is just as important as doing well in school. Whether it’s sports, clubs, or school events, each experience adds something valuable to my exchange year.
I used to think I should stick to what I was already good at, but now I see the value of trying new things. Even if I don’t become an expert in everything, I’ll walk away with great memories and new skills.
