Finally Making The Junior Varsity Team
This is my first time joining basketball at the junior varsity level, and the experience has been completely different from just playing for fun. Walking into the first practice, I was nervous because I knew everyone else had more experience. But once we started drills, I realized how much I enjoyed the challenge. Every practice pushes me — learning plays, improving my footwork, staying locked in on defense, and keeping up with the pace of the team. There are days when I mess up or get frustrated, but those moments make me want to work even harder.
Being surrounded by players who are faster and more skilled motivates me to level up. I’ve been staying after practice to shoot, working on ball-handling, and trying to be more confident on the court. My goal is to eventually join varsity, and even though I’m still new, this season has helped me build the foundation I need. I’m learning how to trust myself, focus under pressure, and play as a real teammate. It’s only my first year, but basketball is becoming something I genuinely look forward to every day.
