Living with Bug Bites My Whole Life
Bug bites aren’t just something occasional for me—they’ve been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. While most people might get a few bites during the summer, I seem to get them more often, and they usually itch more and last longer than expected.
Growing up with this, I’ve learned that my skin just reacts more strongly than others. A small bite can quickly turn into something red, swollen, and hard to ignore. It’s not just the itching—it’s how long they stay and how noticeable they can be, especially on my legs.
One of the hardest parts is dealing with them in daily life. Whether it’s trying to focus in class or just relaxing, the constant itch can be distracting. Over time, I’ve had to build habits to manage it, like avoiding scratching (even when it’s tempting) and finding ways to calm the irritation.
Because this has been happening my whole life, I’ve also become more aware of prevention. I pay more attention to where I am, especially outdoors, and try to reduce the chances of getting bitten in the first place. Even then, it’s not always avoidable.
Even though it’s frustrating, it’s something I’ve gotten used to handling. It’s just one of those small but persistent challenges that I’ve learned to deal with over time.
